No Surprises Act & Good Faith Estimate
As part of the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) explaining the expected cost of therapy services. This estimate helps you understand the financial investment in your care and ensures transparency in pricing.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
A Good Faith Estimate outlines the expected charges for mental health services if you are uninsured or choosing not to use insurance. While this is not a bill, it provides an estimated cost for services to help you make informed decisions about your care.
What You Can Expect:
A written Good Faith Estimate will be provided before your first appointment or upon request.
The estimate will include expected costs for individual therapy, group therapy, or any other services offered.
If your actual costs exceed the estimate by $400 or more, you have the right to dispute the charges.
Your Rights Under the No Surprises Act:
You have the right to request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services.
You can dispute a bill if you receive a charge significantly higher than the estimate.
You are encouraged to keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
